COVES DARDEN P.R.E.
History
Coves Darden P.R.E. is located in Aiken, South Carolina and is dedicated to breeding, sales and the promotion of the P.R.E. (Pura Raza Espanola) in the sport of Dressage in North America.
A little about us personally:
Miguel Coves, was born and raised in Spain and has lived the culture of the Spanish horse since he was a child. Dorothea Darden was raised in the US and Germany and has had a lifelong passion for horses and love for dressage. We met in Spain and our mutual interest in and involvement with horses gave rise to a relatively small breeding operation with around 40 horses located in Elche, in the province of Alicante, Spain.
In 2008, the operation was moved to Aiken county, South Carolina where a state of the art breeding and sales facility was built including a show barn and a covered dressage arena with fiber footing, full short side mirrors and a viewing area for guests. Today, Coves Darden Farm houses close to 100 P.R.E. horses.
In 2018 we purchased a small property in the Wellington area. It has turned into a lovely little horse boutique where we show our young horses and breeding stallions during the Florida winter season.
We, (Miguel Coves and Dorothea Darden) actively manage the daily business operation of Coves Darden Farm. We could not do it without the help of dedicated staff. Our maintenance crew makes sure everything is clean and in good repair. The equine reproduction grooms care for and raise the next generation of champions and our training and sales departments makes sure they are ready to compete and ride off into the sunset with their new owners. It is a lot of work. Those who enjoy the limelight wouldn’t be there without the ones who clean the stalls and work behind the scenes. It’s not always easy but we believe in our vision and the potential of the Spanish horse. Most of all we are proud to offer well bred and well trained P.R.E. horses at reasonable market prices.
